Although the Hill country is caught up with the worst ever droughts, the fifteen Hill country State parks attracts visitors for their variety. Texan visitors do not refrain from visiting these parks. While you plan visit for one or more of these parks engage a guide . Now let us see what is in store for us in atleast five of these parks which are within a two hour drive from Kerrville.
Hill Country State Natural Area, Bandera has a rugged mountain scenary, diverse plant life and 50 miles of trails. Be prepared to go there with enough water . Suitable for horseback riders. We advise to visit this park without kids.
You get a fabulous chance to step along the thousand year old maple trees, in side the Lost Maples State Natural Area, Vanderpool in the months of October and November. You can peg tents and watch for golden warblers and black capped vireos. You have a 11 mile trail in this 30 year old park.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Fredericksburg: is a rocky stretch with giant pink granite dome. Some what a hot park which is not entertained by visitors. The Enchanted Rock is considered to be a geological marvel with a height of 425 feet .
